Legislation has been filed that would ‘bust’ the Permanent University Fund and give funds to UH, Texas Tech, and colleges included in the Texas Constitution. ‘Busting’ the PUF would have a negative impact on The University, especially at a time when state funding is being cut. It is important that we protect the PUF from these attempts to ‘bust’ it, so that UT can continue to operate as a “university of the first class.”
